Mantou’s origins stretch back to ancient north China, wherein those days it was considered a luxury product. Today, it is a common street snack and yet another example of Chinese influence on Malaysian food culture. Mantou is a fluffy dough bun characterised by its spiral formation. Like its other oriental bun counterparts, Mantou taste and texture can be described as light and soft with a natural sweetness. However, they can also be deep-fried as well as steamed.
